The Angel poster and card
were part of an invitaitonal exhibit at the Castle Gallery, College of
New Rochelle in 1996. These images lead to a series of explorations of
the angel by Sadan using earlier images of friends' children via the polaroid
transfer process combined with additional coloring and handwork techniques
on the series.
The original image of the poster took place when Sadan was swimming with friends in the Croton River and Anisa began portraying 'dramatic' poses wrapped in a white sheet; the images having a quality of Julia Margaret Cameron's romantic pictorial style of the 1890's. The 'Angel' evolved out of the invitation to the exhibit and completed work. "I always knew that I was
an angel."
